Jeff Adkins is the President and Principal Executive Search/Staffing Consultant with The Adkins Group, Inc., an Executive Search and Recruitment Services company located in Austin, Texas.

With over 20 years of executive search, staffing, consulting, and management experience, Jeff has provided nationwide executive search and staffing consulting services to a number of organizations, large and small, from start-ups to Fortune 100’s. He has successfully completed numerous searches at the executive-level and below, and has provided consulting support (in the areas of staffing strategy, recruitment, and retention) to clients such as Dell, Microsoft, Sprint, Intel, Sun, Cisco, AMD, Alcatel, Tellabs, Amphenol, and Motorola, to name a few.

Throughout his professional career, with an expertise in recruitment strategy planning and execution, Jeff has developed a strong track record in the ability to quickly assess client needs. He has built and managed staffing teams, and has successfully recruited professionals, both locally and nationally, for positions ranging from individual contributors to senior executives.

Entering his 11th year in the executive search arena, Jeff has an extensive background and track record in business and management. This experience has provided him with excellent insight into the organizational needs of The Adkins Group clients. Before founding The Adkins Group, Jeff was a Senior Partner of an Austin, Texas-based, nationwide executive search firm, and, before that, was a top-performing Executive Search Consultant at a technology-focused search firm, also based in Austin.

Jeff earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University, and a Masters Certificate in Human Resource Management from St. Edward’s University. He is a Certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR).


Gil Oakes
Director of Search Operations

Gil Oakes is the Director of Search Operations with The Adkins Group, Inc., an Executive Search and Recruitment Services company located in Austin, Texas.

Gil’s career has spanned over 25 years of corporate management, operations, staffing and consulting experience with a wide variety of Fortune 500 companies. For the past 10 years his concentration has been on developing successful strategies for recruiting, staffing and training executive personnel for several high profile clients, including IBM, Microsoft, Dell Computer, Motorola, Sun Microsystems, Sprint, BMC Software, Ford Motor Company, Nissan Motor Company, Baxter Healthcare, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, Best Buy, Target Stores and the State of Texas, as well as several start-up ventures.

Prior to his current role as an executive recruiter, Gil was a National Recruiter for Analysts International, and played a key role in providing technical project management services aimed at staffing system implementation and integration projects within several Fortune 1000 clients. As an executive recruiter, Gil specializes in the industries of Financial Services, Semiconductor, Telecommunications, Information Technology, E-commerce, Manufacturing, Insurance, Retail and Government.

In addition, Gil has been actively involved in several local and national groups related to the staffing industry, as well as several technology and networking groups, including the Austin Technology Council. His volunteer work with The United Way Programs, Special Olympics, Blue Santa Program and the Austin City Limits Music Festival have also kept Gil busy within the Austin community.


Steve Weigl
Senior Account Manager

With over 20 years of experience as an account representative, recruiter and manager, Steve has worked both in corporate environments as well as staffing firms. He has worked with a wide variety of companies from startups to fortune 100 firms and has handled projects from individual contributors to management level hiring. He has done this both on the staffing side as well as placing contractors. Steve’s industry experience is also far ranging, having worked within software, engineering, manufacturing and power.

Steve joined The Adkins Group in 2003 and has since worked to expand the reach of the company by developing relationships with a wide variety of clients in diverse industries throughout the country. Working with these clients he has developed a business of placing contract recruiters with those companies who need them as well as, introducing them to The Adkins Group search services. Since starting the contract recruiting practice, Steve has developed a network of contract recruiters throughout the country. His philosophy is to treat each individual and organization with honesty and integrity.

Steve attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as a communications major and worked in radio as a disc jockey and newsman for several years. He also served his country in the army.


Stephanie Foust
Lead Recruiter

Stephanie Foust is a recruiter with The Adkins Group, Inc., an executive search and recruitment services company located in Austin, Texas.

Stephanie joined The Adkins Group in 2005 to assist in building a nationwide sales team for a Fortune 500 enterprise software client. As a result of the success of this project, she was invited to join the team on a full time basis. She has since been involved in numerous executive searches within the marketing, sales, accounting, finance, engineering and human resources functions. She has also participated in conducting research, qualification and presentation of candidates to hiring authorities, and determining hiring managers’ needs. In doing this, she has been exposed to a very wide variety of industries, including semiconductor, software, manufacturing, and insurance.

Stephanie earned her BBA in Marketing from Texas State University, in San Marcos, Texas. While in college, she was a member of numerous honor societies, including Golden Key Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma (National Business Honor Society), Alpha Mu Alpha, and Alpha Chi. She was also a participant in the American Marketing Association and an active member in Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).



Buck Byrum
Executive Search / Client Management Consultant

Buck Byrum is a Principal Consultant with the Adkins Group, leveraging over 18 years of experience in sales, business development, and human resources. Prior to joining the Adkins Group, Buck spent 10 years in the Electronic Design Automation industry as both a Corporate Recruiter and a Global Staffing Manager. He has built international recruitment teams, designed and implemented workforce planning programs, and advised executive leadership on scalable talent management solutions. In addition, he has held program management responsibilities in the areas of Employment Branding, HRIS, and Mergers & Acquisitions.

Buck began his recruiting career in the staffing agency business working for one of the fastest growing, private staffing & consulting services companies in the nation. He held leadership positions in both sales and recruiting while developing a client base centered around HW/SW Engineering, Telecommunications, Biotechnology, Semiconductor Manufacturing, and Enterprise IT. Combining both recruitment agency and HR leadership backgrounds has allowed Buck unique insights into the real challenges facing companies today. He prides himself on being able to translate those insights into workable human capital solutions for clients ranging from start-ups to large publicly-traded corporations.

Buck earned a BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of The Human Capital Institute and frequently involves himself in Corporate Executive Board's national Recruiting Roundtable. He is an active volunteer in the health care industry and passionate about non-profit activities that represent good corporate citizenship.
