EXECUTIVE SEARCH

BACKGROUND

Our client is a major player in the technology arena.  Their products can be found in nearly every electronic device- in cars, printers, networking equipment, set-top boxes, high-definition TVs, games, cell phones and other consumer electronics. Their solutions are incorporated into electronic products from the top Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) around the world.

CHALLENGE

Our client, looking for new leadership to help lead and streamline operations, engaged The Adkins Group in order to find their EVP of WW Operations.  This person would report directly to the Office of the CEO and be part of the senior management team which was comprised of the industries’ top product development and manufacturing professionals. The person in this position would have full participation in the Executive Management Board, and would be responsible for all aspects of our global manufacturing operations and supply chain management including product cost, yields, quality, reliability, on-time delivery, manufacturing cycle times and customer service.

SOLUTION

We worked hand-in-hand with the hiring executive and members of the management team to determine the precise qualifications, experience, and personal attributes that the candidate must have to be successful. At that stage, we felt that it was important to develop a clear understanding of the client’s organization, core values, culture, strategy, strengths / weaknesses, and position in the marketplace. The information developed here became the foundation on which we built our search strategy, and was a key factor in delivering an accurate recruiting message to prospective candidates, and ultimately, in determining the success of the search.

We then developed an in-depth search strategy to direct our activities, and an extensive, research strategy to identify target companies and high potential individuals. This strategy involved using a variety of sources and methods including investigative research, industry expert contacts, referral solicitation, and data from previous searches that we have completed. Using our broad network of resources, we were able to identify several high-potential candidates.

RESULT

Within 2 weeks, we were able to start presenting candidates for this role.  Within 8 weeks, our client was able to announce the appointment of our chosen candidate, a recognized leader in the industry (with over 28 years of global experience in R&D, manufacturing, M&A, sales, operations, and general management), as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Operations, further strengthening the company’s leadership team, and focus on operational excellence. His experience and leadership continues to play a pivotal role in aligning our client’s manufacturing and supply chain with their business units and sales, a role of strategic importance to the company.

CUSTOMIZED, IN-HOUSE EXECUTIVE SEARCH

BACKGROUND

Previously a joint venture between two technology companies, our client quickly became a publicly traded company. It was the largest organization in the world dedicated exclusively to designing, developing, manufacturing, marketing, and selling IC memory solutions.

CHALLENGE

Under its new independent structure, our client faced the monumental task of filling a large number of vital executive positions immediately. The company now had to perform many functions that were previously handled by their parent companies. The human resources team had to fill crucial director through vice president positions in departments such as finance, compensation and benefits, product development and marketing—It had executive staffing needs similar to those of a start-up company…

The human resources team needed to quickly find experienced leaders with highly specialized skill sets to continue to guide the companies’ market growth. Their internal resources already had a full requisition load, and were strained by the extensive process and dedicated time required to fill these new specialized positions.

Our client recognized that hiring multiple search firms, typically one for each position, was not an ideal service model for handling a large number of executive hires from diverse fields, particularly in such a tight timeframe. They also realized that engaging multiple search firms can be expensive, complicated, and difficult to coordinate, track progress, etc. It most likely would be an inefficient process resulting in lost time and money.  And, most importantly, given the lack of incentives in a normal retained search arrangement, there would be no guarantee that hires would be made.

SOLUTION

Instead of retaining multiple search firms to address each opening, the company chose The Adkins Group, who then provided a single point of contact for a wide range of search resources. The Adkins Group partnered with the client to create a cost-effective, results-oriented search and recruitment solution.

The solution’s hallmark was the placement of an onsite executive search consultant, and a recruiting coordinator who worked closely with the human resources team, the hiring executives and the candidates. The consultant’s presence eliminated much of the back and forth that can normally happen between executives, human resources and multiple search firms.  In order to ensure results, the consultant had access to a wide range of resources. The Adkins Group’s executive search staff supported the consultant, combining an internal presence with external services. The solution’s tracking and reporting component helped alleviate the stress on the staffing managers as well as the pressure on the human resources team.

RESULT

Within 24-month period, 30 crucial executive positions were filled with top talent. A uniquely tailored cost structure made the process budget-friendly, easy to track, plan, and measure, especially when compared to using traditional search firms.

KEYHIRE SEARCH

BACKGROUND

Our client, a Fortune 50 worldwide leader in software, services and solutions, was in the early stages of making a huge investment and push into the cloud/data center arena.

CHALLENGE

After exhausting all of its internal measures, they engaged our firm to find a Chief Architect that could design and scale a grid system that could harness and distribute the company’s computing power throughout its 100+ global locations, supporting over 70,000 employees.  This was a critical, extremely niche role that required a dedicated recruitment effort in order to find the appropriate candidates.

SOLUTION

By dedicating a expert team of sourcers and recruiters to the search, we quickly were able to identify and meet with many of the worlds’ top scientists specializing in this field, which led us to one of only a few people with the exact background needed to fill this critical role.

RESULT

Our candidate was able to have significant impact out of the gate and contributed significantly to the success of the organization.  In addition to filling this important position, we were also able to fill one of the top senior engineering roles within this group as a result of this search.

TARGETED SOURCING PROJECT

BACKGROUND

Our client is a world leader in computing innovation. The company designs and builds the essential technologies that serve as the foundation for the world’s computing devices.  The company is moving rapidly to become a solutions-focused company, and has invested heavily in the software space, which includes building-out and enhancing their software development capabilities by bringing on key talent.

CHALLENGE

To build a mobile technology software engineering organization from the ground up, in 3-5 months.

As a result of the internal recruitment team carrying heavy requisition loads, our client engaged our firm to conduct a dedicated, thorough, deep-dive effort aimed at finding, and recruiting the best of the best in the mobile software space.

SOLUTION

Working directly with the executive team, and hand-in-hand with the internal recruitment team, we were able to design and execute a focused, customized, team-based recruitment project that directly targeted those with the appropriate mobile software development experience.

RESULT

Utilizing a dedicated team of sourcers and recruiters, we were able to completely map out the potential candidate pool for our client. We worked with them to compose a candidate “Opportunity Profile” which contained compelling information about the opportunity that high-caliber candidates want to hear.  Within a short period of time, we were able to deliver this recruitment message to several hundred candidates, resulting in excellent candidate flow and multiple hires for the team.

CONTRACT RECRUITING (Onsite and Offsite)

An industry leading high tech company has been a client of ours for several years.  Because their hiring needs have never been consistent, and can vary from senior-level openings to individual contributors at any given time, they were interested in utilizing more of a one-stop-shop, “turn-it-on, turn-it-off” unbundled approach to recruiting and search.   They turned to The Adkins Group because of the flexible, scalable recruitment options that we provide as a way to manage costs, and because their recruiting needs can be met without managing relationships with multiple firms.  Our recruitment staff has supported their organization from our offices, on an hourly basis, for over 10 years now.

A major telecommunications company was faced with the challenge of hiring multiple, “hard to find” engineering professionals.  We were able to provide a seasoned recruiter that had extensive experience with putting recruiting processes and systems into place, understanding hiring managers needs, etc..  The recruiter became a valued member of the team very quickly, and was able to effectively source, recruit and hire candidates in a short period of time.

One of the country’s leading healthcare providers was faced with hiring thousands of new people within the organization. Knowing that they would need external help to achieve their goals; they partnered with The Adkins Group to help find a solution. In response, The Adkins Group delivered six carefully selected remote contract recruiters around the country to fill a wide variety of positions at company locations throughout the nation, helping the client company to grow by more than 7,000 employees in one year.
